About the show:-
The show has a unique travel documentary concept. The members of the show travel to various destinations dressed as a particular character (allotted through a mission or game) with a mission to collect mystical displaced dragon balls. Various missions, both individual and team have to be accomplished to collect the dragon balls and when all seven dragon balls are collected by the members, their wishes are granted.
The Crew and the Cast including Na PD (Na Young-seok PD님) travel along with the cast members. The crew along the way throw at the cast members various missions and tasks like the morning tasks/missions, OST quiz, 인물 퀴즈 (guessing the celebrity or famous character quiz), consonant game, 고요속의 외침 게임 (shout in the silence game), zombie game, cone hat game, 딸기 게임 (strawberry game), etc. upon whose accomplishment the members would be rewarded with a dragon ball and also food. The members without an ounce of care for their members compete for the food not the dragon ball (for the dragon ball they always fought in unity). The funniest elements are the additional characters, that is, Shin Myohan and his family, the bickering between the old boys, the screen adjustments caused by the bickering and the competition between the old boys and the young boys and our innocent Na PD falling for the tricks of the cast members.
New journey to the west or 신서유기 is one of my favourite Korean variety shows (in the comedy genre). Kang's Kitchen and Spring Camp are a spin offs of New Journey to the West. This is where it all began.
The show never fails to make me laugh. The show has had a total of 8 seasons till now, each with its own USP.
The show has garnered a lot of love and popularity over the last few years leading to many spin offs. The show is filled with hilarious moments and elements. It is one of the best Korean Variety shows out there.
