About the show:-

Knowing brothers, Men on a Mission, Ask us Anything or 아는 형님 (aneun hyungnim) is a Korean Comedy Variety Show. 7 Variety show kings and MCs of the Korean entertainment industry play high school students in the show set up with a classroom background. Guest stars appear every week as transfer students interacting and engaging in discussions, banters, games and battles with the 7 members in informal language (honorific and formal language is very important in Korea, especially in a formal setting like shows (방송)). The show features humour and slapstick comedy as its main theme.

Knowing brothers is probably one of the most watched Korean entertainment variety shows by the international audience. Till date the show has welcomed a large number of k-pop boy bands, girl groups, Korean drama stars, movie stars, singers, actors, entertainers, rookies, other stand up comedians, MCs, etc. under its roof.

What I love about the show:-

The show is a huge platform for fans to watch the big known names of the Korean entertainment industry interacting with each other. I have not watched all the episodes, there are so many, but I turn to the show when someone I really admire appears on the show, for Korean language practice, when I am in need for some humour, or when I come across bits and videos on the Internet of extremely hilarious episodes. This show has introduced me to many K-Pop groups and Korean entertainment industry celebrities. Thanks to Knowing Brothers, I found Seventeen, one of my favourite K-Pop groups.

If you have watched compilations and bits of the show on social media, you know how funny the cast is.

1) I love how the maknaes, Heechul and Kyunghoon are always messing around with Kang Ho-dong. We know how much they love him as their oldest Hyung but they will never let him live in peace.

2) I am amazed by Lee Soo-guen and his antics. Personal opinion, but I think he is the funniest comedian in the Korean Entertainment Industry. He loves to mess around with his Hyungs, especially Seo Jang-hoon and Kang Ho-dong. Lee Soo-geun is Kang Ho-dong’s favourite dongsaeng in the Industry, but the former loves to drive the latter crazy. From the teasing to the banters, Lee Soo-geun can make Kang Ho-dong pull his hair out out of the frustrations but he’ll still laugh because Lee Soo-geun is that funny.

3) I am fascinated by Seo Jang-hoon’s intelligence, Kim Young-chul’s amazing self-taught English, Kang Ho-dong’s comic timings mixed with his moderately understandable Satoori (dialect) and Lee Sang-min’s hilarious self-destructive comedy.

If you are a Korean entertainment show enthusiast, give this show a watch.
